RCA Dimensia System

1984: Dimensia - The Next Dimension in Sight and Sound

Dimensia was a complete system of integrated home electronic entertainment components introduced by RCA in October 1984. The Dimensia Television was the first TV that was also a computer, as it contained microprocessors capable of external I/O via the Dimensia SystemLink bus. A single remote control operated the entire system through the IR sensor on the TV which decoded the IR signals and sent them out over the SystemLink Bus. The TV could also display status screens for all the components in the system. RCA planned to introduce the SKT425 VideoDisc player with the Dimensia system, but CED player production ended shortly before Dimensia was marketed. The RCA Dimensia system remained on the market through 1989.
