Peter K. J. Vadasdy has been named president of RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video, the new joint venture in home video formed by RCA and Columbia Pictures, it was announced today.

Mr. Vadasdy moves to his new position on December 1, from his present post as senior vice president and treasurer of Columbia Pictures International Corporation.

The announcement was made by Herbert S. Schlosser, executive vice president of RCA, and Patrick M. Williamson, president of Columbia Pictures International.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Schlosser said: "We are indeed fortunate to have Peter Vadasdy as head of RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video. His experience in international film distribution and his financial background are ideally suited to the task of building the venture's new home entertainment business."

Mr. Williamson noted that Columbia International was losing the services of a highly valued and talented executive, but added that "the venture will be immeasurably strengthened by the appointment of Mr. Vadasdy to head what promises to be an exciting trip into the future of the international entertainment industry."

A native of Hungary, Mr. Vadasdy, 41, earned his Bachelor's degree and his Master's in Business Administration from Columbia University. His first position after graduation was as a trainee with RCA Corporation, after which he served the RCA International Division as a senior financial analyst. He then held several posts with the Merrell International Division of Richardson-Merrell before joining Columbia Pictures International as assistant treasurer in 1970.

In 1972, Mr. Vadasdy was named treasurer at Columbia International, he became a vice president in 1974 and assumed his present position in 1979.

RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video was formed to market home video entertainment programs around the world, excluding the U.S. and Canadian markets. It will market existing and future theatrical and television programs as well as original productions created specifically for the home video market in all tape and disc formats.
